Your Author Profile

Your author profile is your digital storefront on bqqk. It's how schools and libraries discover you and evaluate whether you're the right fit for their students. A complete, compelling profile significantly increases your chances of receiving booking requests.

Profile Sections

Bio & Headshot

Your bio and headshot are the first things institutions see. Make them count!

Bio Guidelines:

  • Up to 2,000 characters
  • Share your background, writing journey, and what makes your presentations special
  • Highlight what students will experience during your visit
  • Write in first person for a personal connection

Headshot Requirements:

  • Format: JPG or PNG
  • Maximum size: 5MB
  • Minimum dimensions: 400x400 pixels
  • Use a professional, friendly photo
Profile Photo Tips

Choose a photo where you're smiling and approachable. Many authors use photos from past school visits or professional headshots. The goal is to help educators put a face to your name.

Book Catalog

Showcase your published works to help institutions match you to their student audience.

Adding Books:

  1. Enter your book's ISBN for automatic lookup (title, cover, publisher auto-populated)
  2. If ISBN lookup fails, you can add books manually
  3. Add a brief description for each book
  4. Reorder books to feature your favorites first

Your book catalog helps institutions understand:

  • What age groups you write for
  • Your topics and genres
  • Your body of work

Presentation Topics

Let institutions know what you can speak about. You can offer multiple presentation types:

For Each Presentation:

  • Title — A compelling name for the presentation
  • Description — What students will learn and experience
  • Duration — Typical length (30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour, etc.)

Types of Presentations:

  • Book readings and discussions
  • The writing process
  • Illustration demonstrations
  • Creative writing workshops
  • Career as an author
  • Topic-specific presentations related to your books
Variety Helps

Offering multiple presentation options for different age groups and formats (assembly vs. classroom) makes you more bookable.

Target Age Range

Specify which age groups you present to. This is one of the primary filters institutions use when searching.

Available Options:

  • Pre-K
  • K-2 (Kindergarten through 2nd grade)
  • 3-5 (3rd through 5th grade)
  • 6-8 (Middle school)
  • 9-12 (High school)

You can select multiple age ranges. Your selection should reflect the audiences you're comfortable presenting to, not just the target readers of your books.

Pricing and Travel

Be transparent about your fees and logistics to attract the right opportunities.

Pricing:

  • Set a base fee or fee range for your presentations
  • Indicate if you offer discounts for Title 1 schools
  • Consider separate pricing for virtual vs. in-person visits

Travel:

  • Set your maximum travel distance (in miles) from your home location
  • Indicate if you're available for virtual presentations
  • Consider noting any regions you frequently visit
Pricing Transparency

Displaying your pricing upfront saves time for everyone. Institutions can quickly determine if you're within their budget before reaching out.

  4. Be specific — Detailed presentation descriptions help institutions choose you
