What is bqqk?
bqqk is a marketplace that connects children's book authors with schools and libraries for author visits. Authors create profiles showcasing their books and presentations, and institutions search for and book authors that match their needs.
Who can use bqqk?
bqqk serves two main groups:
- Authors — Children's book authors who want to do school and library visits
- Schools & Libraries — Educators looking to book author visits for their students
Is bqqk free to use?
For institutions (schools and libraries): Yes, bqqk is completely free. There are no subscription fees, booking fees, or hidden costs. You only pay the author's fee when you book a visit.
For authors: Publishing your profile requires an annual subscription of $50/year. New authors get a 14-day free trial.
How is bqqk different from finding authors through other channels?
bqqk provides:
- Centralized author profiles with complete information
- Search filters for location, age range, price, and availability
- Secure booking and payment processing
- Verified reviews from real visits
- Direct messaging between authors and institutions
- A standardized, professional booking process
Account Basics
How do I create an account?
- Visit bqqk and enter your email address and name
- Check your email for a magic link
- Click the link to verify your email and complete registration
- Depending on your role, create an author profile or institution profile
What is a magic link?
A magic link is a secure, one-time-use link sent to your email that logs you in without a password. It's valid for 1 hour. This is more secure than traditional passwords and eliminates the need to remember login credentials.
Can I set up a password instead?
Yes, if you prefer password-based login, you can set up a password in your account settings. You'll then be able to log in with either a magic link or your password.
Can I be both an author and represent an institution?
Yes! bqqk uses a flexible user model. With a single account, you can:
- Create an author profile to be discovered by institutions
- Join institutions as a coordinator to book other authors
- Even do both simultaneously
This is helpful for authors who also work at schools or libraries.
How do I update my account information?
Go to Account Settings to:
- Update your name
- Change your email (verification required)
- Set or change your password
- Manage notification preferences
- View connected profiles and institutions
How do I delete my account?
- Go to Account Settings
- Click "Delete Account"
- Review the consequences (explained on screen)
- Confirm deletion
Note: Account deletion has a 30-day grace period during which you can cancel the deletion. After 30 days, your data is permanently removed.

Security & Privacy
Is my information secure?
Yes. bqqk uses industry-standard security measures:

Who can see my profile?
Author profiles are visible to all platform users (institutions and other authors).
Institution profiles are visible to authors for the purpose of evaluating booking opportunities.
Account information (email, password) is never shared.
Can I control my session security?
Yes. In Account Settings, you can:
- View active sessions (device, location, last active)
- Terminate individual sessions
- Log out of all sessions at once
- Sessions automatically expire after 30 days of inactivity
